You’re a teen girl, and you struggle with social interactions. You have your thoughts and ideas, and sometimes you feel like you don’t quite fit in. Maybe you feel like you can’t share information or that if you share, others will criticize you. Maybe you can make friends, but keeping those friends is a different story. You wonder, “what is wrong with me? Why can’t I do this whole ‘social thing?’”
So, your self-esteem suffers. You think something is wrong with you, but there most definitely is not. You just need some rules and a path to get to where you want to be. You need to find your peeps, find out what to do in these situtations, and discover what you can do once you have put it all together.
Imagine feeling more confident. You can participate in things you never thought you could have, and it feels fantastic. You’re ready to practice your learned skills and move out of your comfort zone!

Social Skills for Kids
in Huntington, NY

Social Skills club for kids
Gooding Wellness and The Social Mind Counseling are excited to collaborate on
“Summer Social Club for Kids,” a social emotional wellness group for kids ages 7-10!
Your child is struggling with socialization. They are bright and do well in school, but they fall flat when it comes to making friends. You always wonder how these other kids know what to say and do. You worry about your child’s friendships. They get along better with younger and older kids but struggle with their peers. They never get invited to anything, and you see them spending more time on their
iPad than with friends.
When it comes to social skills, some kids have it easy and other kids struggle! Fortunately, these skills can be learned! The younger your child is, the faster they can learn how to engage with others and what to do in social situations.
Imagine your child knowing what to do during that playdate. They are getting better at problem-solving and engaging better with others. They are happy, and you are so glad because they have learned the necessary skills.
How do we get there?
Why is group therapy the way to go when it comes to social skills?
Kids will have the opportunity to learn in-vivo from clinicians
who can teach these skills and support them in a non-judgment way.
Lessons are explicitly shown in a multimodal way, and they will be practiced
during the session with other children who are working on the same goals.
